Gillette Short Handle Super Adjustable from 1969

Some call this vintage safety razor a Gillette Black Beauty. It is more accurately labeled a short handle Super Adjustable. It is near the last version from the famous line of Gillette Adjustable Razors. It started with the Fat Boy, developed into the Slim, and culminated here. 

It takes a standard double edged blade. The numbered dial adjusts the angle of the blade. Date code of O1 indicates it was manufactured in 1969. When men first walked on the moon, this razor was being manufactured. If you like the adjustments of the Fat Boy, but don't like the wide handle, this is the razor for you. 

These super adjustables are getting harder to find, especially in good condition. This one operates perfectly. As you can see in the photos, it's not perfect, but it's in very good condition for the type. The plating on the head might be improved with some buffing, but looks good in your hand. The paint on the numbers is missing, but the paint on the handle doesn't have any issues we've found. 

Overall, an excellent, rare, razor to use or display.
