Occupied Japan Walking Bear Wind Up Toy with Box and Key 1945-52

This is a wonderful wind-up bear. His box is marked "Walking Bear" and "Made in Occupied Japan". The Occupied Japan mark was applied to items from 1945 through 1952. He still has his key and works. If he hangs around long enough, I'll probably post a video.

As you can see in the photos, the bear is in pretty good cosmetic condition for a fur toy of this age. He has lost fur in several places, but not a lot. He still has a nice look, and operates perfectly. The box is slightly faded, and has a tear, but the colors are still bright and crisp. For some reason, the box doesn't want to close fully on the bear. I don't know if there is some part of the packaging that's missing, or I'm not putting him in right or what.

Terrific little cute, and historical, mechanical toy.
