This vintage wargame is Wooden Ship and Iron Men by Avalon Hill. This edition was produced in 1975-76 for the US Bicentennial. It is a simulation of naval warfare tactics in the age of wind for two or more players. Maneuver your ships to take advantage of the wind, line up for a broadside cannon volley, or prepare to board!

From the game box: "Ship vs. ship, fleet vs. fleet, even a multi-battle Campaign Game of the American Revolution with future encounters hinging on your current success...all included in this simultaneous movement game that can be consummated in a half hour or prolonged for weeks for the utmost in continuing naval drama and suspense.

The game is in good, playable condition. The outer box has some minor scuffs, and the lid is bowed. Most of the playing pieces are still unpunched. However, the game has been played. About six of the ships log sheets have been filled in, but there are probably 20-40 remaining on the pad. The staples on the instruction book have rusted and stained the book, but everything is present and ready to play.

All in all, an excellent game to play or collect.
