This is a wonderful and interesting antique coffee mill. We can't find any makrings on it. Aside from the wood handle, it's all made of steel and cast iron.

Update: We received new information from "Kat". She told us...

The coffee mill is from 1905 and was made by the Bronson-Walton Co. in Cleveland, Ohio. The name of the mill is the "Monitor" Coffee and Spice Mill. It was made from a single piece of sheet steel.

This was verified with this Google e-book

As you can see in the photos, it is in amazing condition. While you can tell it has some age, it doesn't appear to have been used much. I think the black paint is original "Japan" finish. It's one of the most unique I've seen. If you wanted to use it, you could disassemble it and clean the working parts without disturbing the appearance. It has one neat feature I noticed. There's a cotter pin that locks the grind adjustment wheel in place. Once you have the grind you want, you put the pin in place to keep it there.

Perfect kitchen accent piece, or neat way to make your morning pot of coffee.
