Kool Willie Penguin Advertising Razor Blade Bank, late 1940s

Willie Penguin is an advertising character used by Kool brand cigarettes from about 1933 through the 1950s. The art underwent many changes over the years. This version appears to date from the late 1940s into the very early 1950s. He's printed on a razor blade bank. This is an item where you would deposit your used razor blades, then dispose of them safely. As such, it was made to be thrown away.

It would not have held very many blades. The last picture shows a Gillette Blue razor blade in comparison. The blade is not included. Cool artwork on an unusual crossover piece.

As you can see in the photos, it's in excellent condition. Appears to be unused. The green string has stained the top on the front and back in storage. The waxed paper is a bit yellowed with age, but this just gives it a nice patina. Nice, dual purpose item.
