Schick Type C1, The Simplified, about 1933

This is an important razor in the history of Schick Injector Razors. It is a Model C1, "The Simplified Schick Razor", manufactured by the Magazine Repeating Razor Company. The type C was produced in three models from 1933 through 1941. It was called the Simplified because the loading of blades and operation were much easier than in the type A and B razors.The C1 variation is that it has a full open comb. 

One cool feature of these early Schick razors is the way the blades work. They're stored in the handle, and you work a mechanism much like loading a rifle to eject and replace the blade. The improvement in the C was, the door to load the blade cartridge was separated from the one to load and eject blades, making both operations easier.

This one isn't perfect, but it is very good. As you can see in the photos, the gold plating is in great condition except for the ends of the blade mechanism. The cap has a little bit of brassing, and a small dent. It also has been engraved with "W.T. Krusen" on the handle. The condition might be improved by something more than our "light clean and sterilize" process. There are various sites on the web that show how to use modern Schick blades in this razor.

Very cool on many levels. Nice piece of shaving history. Excellent example of "art deco" design. Just a nifty little machine in general.
