This is an excellent example of an American Safety Razor "Patent 1912" type single edge safety razor. This one is branded under the GEM name. From the styling of the handle, etc it looks like it was made around 1930. Many people swear by single edge razors, and the blades are still readily available. Many people feel the 1912 Ever-Readys (and GEMs and ASRs) are the best razor ever made. Ironic considering the patent was issued over 100 years ago (Feb 27, 1912)!
The razor is in very good condition for the age. While we ran the razor through our standard "light clean and sterilize" process, we didn't try to polish it. Something more than than would likely help it a lot. There are some minor scratches and a few spots of mild brassing, but it operates perfectly, and is ready to go.
Overall, very nice little razor to use or display.
