Victorian "John Lennon" Smoked Glass Sunglasses, 1900 or earlier

These are some really cool looking antique sunglasses. The smoked glass has a blue gray color. The steel wire frames have a nice, dark patina. Some people call these "John Lennon" glasses because he wore eyeglasses of this style. These don't appear to have been prescription glasses.

The glasses are in a leather case marked "Thaxter, 416 Washington St, Boston".

There are a few spots of light rust on the frames. With all the dark colors, it's not very noticeable. The right lens has a tiny fleabite chip. When I wear them, I don't notice it. The hinges still work perfectly. The leather case is a but rough, but intact. 

Very cool glasses for a steampunk look, costume or just to wear around.
