It lacks the outer box and other identifiers, but we think this vintage Rolls Razor is a Viscount because of the aluminum construction and single Greek Key pattern on the case. Which would mean it was produced in the 1950s. The alligator textured leather travel case is an accessory that was first sold in the late 1940s, so it's probably on the early end of the 50s. It includes the razor case, leather stropper, integrated whetstone hone, razor blade, handle, travel case, spare blade and blade case. The Rolls was a complete luxury shaving set in single unit!

First the bad points. The main blade has some spot, but we feel it could be restored. The spare blade is still wrapped, so we can't judge it, but it should be in excellent condition for that reason. The mechanics operate perfectly. The leather stropper has a few picks. and could use some leather conditioner, but we've seen worse. The spare blade box is in excellent condition. The early plastic used is very brittle and often found to be cracked or broken, but this one is great. There are a few minor scuffs on the leather travel pouch, but it's about as close to perfect as you could ask for.

Unlike so many sets, the stone is perfect. The blade did seem to hone, strop and take an edge well. You may need to have it professionally honed if you plan to shave, but it seems plenty sharp now. I dry-tested it on the back of my hand, and it worked well. The handle and stropper hold the blade position perfectly. The head and stropping mechanisms are perfect. I could go on and on, but I won't.

Overall, a very cool, very attractive razor. We feel it could be easily returned to shaving service, or it's in perfectly good condition for display.
