Some call this vintage safety razor a Gillette Black Beauty. It is more accurately labeled a long handle Super Adjustable. It is near the last version from the famous line of Gillette Adjustable Razors. It started with the Fat Boy, developed into the Slim, and culminated here.

It takes a standard double edged blade. The numbered dial adjusts the angle of the blade. Date code of S2 indicates it was manufactured in 1972. If you like the adjustments of the Fat Boy, but don't like the wide handle, this is the razor for you. The long handle SA is also the Gillette adjustable with the longest handle at about 4 1/2 inches or 11cm.

These super adjustables are getting harder to find, especially in good condition. This one operates perfectly. As you can see in the photos, it's not perfect, but it's in very good condition for the type. The plating on the head might be improved with some buffing, but looks good in your hand. The paint on the numbers is perfect. The paint on the handle doesn't have any issues we've found.

The case is probably the reason the razor is so nice. It's in pretty good shape too. There's some scuffing on the clear plastic, but otherwise quite good.

Overall, an excellent, rare, razor to use or display.
