This is a cool little toy typewriter made by Louis Marx and Company in the 1930s. By turning the dial and pressing a letter, you were able to type. There is also a space key to advance between words. The tin litho "keyboard" is just for decoration and doesn't have a function. This is an early version with wooden handles on the paper roller, and marked "Patent Pending" on the dial.

As you can see in the photos, it does have some scratching and rust, but is still attractive. If you're into it, a little cleaning might help, but we like it just as it is. The dial and print lever work perfectly. The space button operates, but it needs a new spring to advance the carriage between letters and spaces, if you actually want to type on it, you'll need to replace the ribbon too. That seems to be the only thing missing.

Overall, a very cool looking early toy.
