This is a wonderful example of "old style", turn of the century milk glass. It's a match safe in the shape of a pipe. The pipe is resting on a square plug of tobacco. It would also make a neat toothpick holder. From the style of glass, patterns etc, it would have been made in the 1920s or earlier.
As you can see in the photos, it's in excellent condition. Much of the original gilding has been worn away, but enough remains to highlight the terrific details of the pipe and leaf patterns in the base. We think there's just enough left to speak of the age and history of the piece. Imagine the tales it could tell!
