The Single Ring was the second model razor Gillette produced. From the serial number of P111466, this one was made sometime on 1921. In spite of its age, it uses standard double edge razor blades available from a wide variety of sources.
As you can see in the photos, the razor is in excellent condition for the type and age. We have run the razor and blade cases through our "light clean and sterilize" process, but that's it. The silver plating is very good throughout. All the teeth are here and straight. If you look closely enough, almost any Single Ring will have splitting in the handle, but I can't find any on this one.
When we opened the "match safe" style blade case, we got a big surprise. Check it out, there's another blade in there! I didn't open it to see if the date codes match, but I can see it is another three hole blade by shining a light. Pretty amazing. Of course, both blades are included for display only. You should purchase new Gillette style blades if you want to use the razor.
The outside of the case has seen better days, but it's done its job, and it looks pretty nice inside.
All in all, a very nice piece of shaving history to use or collect.
