This vintage Gillette safety razor is an early TTO version of the Aristocrat. First introduced in 1910, Gillette would reuse the Aristocrat name for years. This gold plated, TTO version is the most commonly recognized. This type was released in 1946. While marketed as a premium product, it is more or less a thick handled version of a Super Speed razor. It does not have a date code, which indicates it was made before 1951. Also it does not have the notch for the dispenser pack, which shows it was made before 1948. Very cool looking razor, in very good, used condition. The heavier weight, superior balance, and overall good looks make this a popular razor. Uses standard Gillette style double edged razor blades, which are available in a variety of brands from many sources.

Gillette gold plating is infamous for being thin. While the plating on this razor isn't perfect, it's very good. The doors have some spots that are lacquer loss, and a few that might be full plating wear. They are not as apparent as they appear in the photos. The case is not great on the outside. The faux leather does have some minor wear, and the Gillette logo is pretty faded. However, it still looks good, and would function perfectly as a travel case. It also displays well when open. Both the velvet bottom, and the silk lid linings are in excellent condition.

Very attractive razor, ready for use or display.
